Rheology of Hyperconcentrations
نویسنده
چکیده
A physically based quadratic rheological model for hyperconcentrated flows is tested with experimental data sets. The model includes components describing: (1) Cohesion between particles; (2) viscous friction between fluid and sediment particles; (3) impact of particles; and (4) turbulence. The resulting quadratic formulation of the shear stress is shown to be in excellent agreement with the experimental data sets of Bagnold, Savage and McKeown, and Govier et al. When the quadratic model is written in a linearized dimensionless form, the ratio D* of dispersive to viscous stresses is shown to play a dominant role in the rheology of hyperconcentrations. The quadratic model is best suited when (30 < D* < 400). At low values of D*, the quadratic model reduces to the simple Bingham plastic model (D* < 30), and at large values of D*, a turbulent-dispersive model is indicated (D* > 400).

Optimization of Cement Spacer Rheology Model Using Genetic Algorithm (RESEARCH NOTE)
The primary cement job is a critical step in successful well completion. To achieve effective cementing job, complete mud removal from the annular is recommended. Spacer and flushers are used widely to achieve this goal. This study is about weighted cement spacer systems containing a surfactant package, weighting agent and rheological modifiers. Weighted spacer systems are utilized when a high ...

This paper presents the effect of high viscosity oil and two-phase foamy-oil flow on the performance of a single stage centrifugal pump. As a part of this, the applicability of a pipe viscometer to determine the foamy oil viscosity is investigated. Unlike previous studies, a sealed fluid tank is used in a closed flow loop to allow conditioning the two-phase mixture to create foamy-oil. Furtherm...
متن کاملInvestigation of the Fractional Composition Effect of the Carbonate Weighting Agents on the Rheology of the Clayless Drilling Mud
The article considers the issue of reducing the influence of clayless mud components on the filtration parameters of the reservoir. In the composition of such solutions, calcium carbonate of various fractions is often added as a weighting and colmatizing additive. It is generally accepted that weighting bridging agents are sufficiently inert substances and their addition does not affect the rhe...
